Ramadan Mubarak/Hayırlı Ramazanlar

Ramadan Mubarak and Ramazan Mübarek Kutlu Olsun to all those celebrating this important month. Ramadan is a time for reflection, charity, and sharing meals with friends, family, and those less fortunate. We at Istanbul&I are very happy to spend this holy month committing further to supporting displaced and refugee communities and increasing connection and understanding between different groups in Istanbul.

Ramadan is also a great time to reflect. Since opening our office doors in October, we have had over 2500 attendees to our events with 75 office events in total and 258 volunteering activities!

During Ramadan we also host our popular Iftar&Community programs. Iftar&Community is one of Istanbul&i’s first and longest-running service activities and started with just a group of friends providing meals to residents of Tarlabaşı two years ago. The first Iftar&Community gave Istanbul&i volunteers an opportunity to get to know different vulnerable communities in Istanbul and give back through providing dinners and children’s activities to break the fast each Ramadan.

This year we plan on holding our largest Iftar&Community project yet, with 6 dinners throughout the month starting this Friday. Thanks to our sponsors, Mülteci Destek Derneği/Refugee Support Centre (MUDEM) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

“You come here, bring us food, play with our children and allow us to enjoy the park! God bless you my kids.”
